Seriously !

Anxiety, frustration, disapointment, anger, helpless are just a few of the feelings i felt as i read an article on this site about a 65 year old DOT officer that performed a total of 45 inspections this year resulting in 45 out of service violations. Either I have lost touch with my fellow truckers and there is a larger issue with safety than I realize or the statement that the officer makes in the article that his job is his hobby may sum up his 100% OOS record. With these kind of numbers I am leaning on the side of the hard working truckdrivers. Drivers and O/O Make the repairs you need to make and Keep On Trucking America and the rest of the world need you ! God Bless The Trucker!

With only 45 inspections in a year.. This guy is very selective on just who he pulls over.. As you pass him going down the road.. He can pull up your DOT or MC number and tell if your worthy of him inspecting you is going to extend his record. The CSA score will tell him . Now 45 inspections a year? Just what does he do with all of that time not inspecting. If he works 200 days a year .. That's one inspection every 4.5 days.. And he works for the state? Not real cost effective is he? A normal DOT inspector will get well over 45 out of service, just by routine inspections.. And doing 2-3 a day. But with you question about trucks being unsafe.. With these new laws and regulation..just about every truck or driver can be cited for something.. As for being red tagged? They can always find something to shut you down.. A normal person can't know ALL of the laws any more.. That part is the sad part.
