The perfect hopper bottom

Obviously because it's sand we don't need a large hopper and the truck is paid both ways but it would be nice to have a trailer I could reload with commodities on the way back. What is the best bang for your buck in this scenario? 42'L x 102"W x 78"H? Or 40'L x 96"W x 72"H? Or something else? Trying to keep the empty weight of the trailer down while allowing enough capacity for bulk commodities. Will order all the extras to make it lightweight.

The weight diffrence is minimal. I hauled frac sand in my 102w it looked empty. would still do it if it were not 21 to 30 days to pay

Spread axle allows me to not have to worry about axle weight. Just throw it in and go. I also just got a aluminum fifth wheel. Wow what a difference in weight.

Rates are one way and at least 4 weeks to get paid. Really good with excuses. I hauled for them once and waited for over six weeks for pay. Many phone calls to a answering machine. She didn't say anything about the 10 hr wait time. Wasted 2 days

One broker in ND is doing frac sand no issue talking the talk. Rates are one way and at least 4 weeks to get paid. Really good with excuses. I hauled for them once and waited for over six weeks for pay. Many phone calls to a answering machine. She didn't say anything about the 10 hr wait time. Wasted 2 days

Greg, I think alot of us can APPRECIATE you sharing that tid bit of information about the FRAC SAND haul and the broker that you found to be less than HONORABLE. However, PLEASE share with us who this broker is... It does us no good if you ALLOW us to go through the same thing that you encountered. This would allow us to get in depth information about this broker before we get involved should we decide to enlist them for work.. in short.. TELL US WHO THIS BROKER IS.. Just my opinion..

That size is more magon than we need for grain and meal but the one thing I like is that with grain you don't have to put more than one pile on each end, the same is true of fertilzer. The meal also has plenty of room in the wagon. DDG will pretty much fill one up and Midds will fill the wagon and usually have on 24 to 25 and a half just depending on the weight of the mids. If running sand and nothing but grain and sand I'd look at a 66 or 72. With either of them you would have room for Meal or fertlizer just be pretty much be a full trailer. I would not have ag traps on a trailer and would only but air ride.

There is no "perfect" size. My trailer is a 72"x96"x50' triple axle timpte. I went this route because I am mainly hauling grain, fertilizer, rock, and soybean meal. I dont need the tall or wide sizes for those particular commodities.
