newspaper claiming that the reason why there is no salt up north is because there is a lack of trucks but we all know that when brokers try to get us haul that stuff for nothing none of us are going to do it and I know there's plenty of those trucks that are looking for work everyday so lets put the blame for the real blame is needed. I get calls everyday from brokers wanting me to haul that stuff for $1.92 to 2.10 per mile that is horseshit. I already know one broker that has had his contract taken from him because you can not get truck to haul it for him gee I wonder why. just like last year by the time it's all said and done they will pay us round trip and paid close to $4 per mile but as of now the salt can sit in the piles hell with it. :)

I saw the article and thought the same thing too. We don't have a driver/truck shortage, we have a lack of pay problem.

Yep...I thought the same exact thing. We have heard the same thing here for road salt in NC and/or VA. For years the rates have been very stagnant and not impressive at all. Down here in NC, the locals go crazy when it snows and then complain when its slow coming. As we all agree, trucking ain't cheap...and you gotta pay up.
