Stay away, long lines. right now they are offering way to cheap to do the loads. We waited over 100 days on the detention and then only got paid a fraction of what they said they would pay. If you have 25 trucks then go to the shipper direct and you will make money, otherwise stay away.

Trucker Beware!!!

Who were you hauling for on the lengthy pay period?

With the price of crude dropping..one company that i know of is telling their truckers that they just cut the rate 15%..to bring out to the well head. So watch other rates to tumble also..hauling frac sand.

I know a man thats leaving a tanker job hauling chemicals out of iowa to go haul oil in North Dakota and he claims he will be making 1200.00 to 1500.00 a day . So is he in for a suprise with crude dropping ?

I hope he got those figures in writing. Crude guys I know make around $120,000 a year...or $3,000 a week figuring 40 work weeks.

Would rather not say, as this customer pays extremely well for hauling ag products as well as the frac sand. In the past we never had any problems with the frac sand as well. The last run we did for them in August was when the problems occurred. They have done their best to pay us at least some of the detention. It still does not take away from the fact that my trucks could have easily made between $10,000 - $15,000 hauling our standard freight. With the merger and aquisitions that are occurring in the oil industry, my advice is to stay away until the dust settles and it gets back to normal sometime next summer.

Here is the financial hit we took on the detention:

Total owed: $2910.00
Total paid: $870.00
Total Loss: $2040.00 (not including lost revenue potential in August)

While I don't like taking a loss at anytime, at least we recouped a certain amount of the money. This is the first loss that we have ever taken, so that also tends to make one a little more sore about the situation. It was entirely my fault for not pulling my trucks when the lines started backing up. Lesson learned, just felt I should warn the others about what was occurring in the oil/frac sand side of things. We will go back to hauling frac sand when the rates get back where they belong.

So to those that want to haul it for cheap, good luck!
