Anyone have experience with Cornhusker or Jet trailers?

Mar 24, 2015 at 12:24 AM CST
I am wondering if anyone out there has any experience with and could provide some advice on Cornhusker Ultralite grain trailers. I have only pulled Timptes and Wilsons, but have looked at a couple used Cornhuskers recently that appear to be in very good shape and reasonably priced and am considering trying one. I asked one fellow, who has a lot more experience owning hoppers than I do, about them and he said they were his favorite brand but doesn't pull them anymore because of the wind drag caused by the exposed vertical ribs along the side. He said it cost him about 1 mpg in lost fuel mileage, which really surprised me-- I didnt realize it wloud make such a drastic difference. He also said Jet trailers cost about .6 mpg due to their fluted sides as well. Has anyone else had this experience, or have any other advice on what you think of Cornhuskers or Jets? Thanks in advance for any help!

we have all 9-1 spread axle 46 foot spread cornhuskers and after pulling them my drivers say they will never go back to a timpte trailer again. bought all of them new with the oldest one 4 years old and have not had any problems with doors or anything and we load them pretty heavy at times

forgot to mention that all of ours are smooth sided trailers (no ribs)

Differently right about lost fuel mileage with vertical ribs on CH trl. Cornhuskers is lightest hopper. BUT is also the only brand I have heard of breaking in half from overload. All so ribbons like to pop lose from constantly heavy loads. Just remember u get what u pay for.

We haul 88,000 lbs with our Cornhusker trailer and have had no issues with breaking in half. Never heard of that before.

I run a 7 axle outfit with a cornhusker at 95000 to 100000 plus and have NO lose rivets nor does it attempt to break in two!!!!
