You should find all kinds of work in the oilfield. Do just what the oilfield drivers did to the commercial grain haulers in North Dakota cut the rate so no one makes a living.
Learn to live off side pork instead of the loin all the time
the best thing that happened in ND is when the oil price dropped. We went from 687 child molestors down to just over 220 now the price needs to get lower for oil then maybe to others will leave also

Sent my dad up there from Houston to Williston with some slurry in the dry van. He said that he wanted to get out of there as fast as possible, so I bounced him back to Mitchell to pu the next load. He later told me that he was nervous up there, that there were guys eyeballing him like he was a woman. I told him if he lost a little of that man boob than they would not make that mistake. LOL

From what I know of this guy. He is a low ball, cut rate broker.

Rocking E was it Justin? When's the last time we worked together? How about you Jason? Just curious because I'd like to know what makes you say I'm a cut rate broker? Also, what qualifies as a cut rate broker these days? Are you just saying this because you seen a load posted for a price you didn't like or have we had some business dealings in the past?

FYI - Any business that these trucks get will not be running through me. This post is for a friend. Pretty cut rate brokerish of me I know...

Bob, if you have something in mind just give me a holler sometime. I'm not brokering these trucks and they don't belong to me. The post is just for a friend that wanted some help finding some work. So far, this forum has been zero help. Now that I've seen Justin and Jason's comments, I have an idea as to why.

I don't know Paul personally, but when we talked about this situation that he has going on up there. He is trying to help a friend out, I don't have the connections for him nor his friend in that area. His intentions are honest, anybody that has a connection and can help would be greatly appreciated. If no help arrives than another brother will bite the dust. Just saying guys, their is to much equipment hitting the aution blocks as it is right now. Hope that helps your friend Paul.

Agreed, but I did call and reach out to him with an email. That is the only reason I know. He has now stated the situation so others know as well. Hopefully he will get some help now.

If you notice I started out being a smart a** to start. Then when I found out what the situation was I quit. Bantering while fun as it may be, is not fun when the other party really is hurting. You know how I am Jason, I take no pleasure in kicking a man when he is down. I only take pleasure in kicking the crap out of the bully's, the same as you. Sometimes we are misread because we are a little rough, but Paul really is trying to help. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, if he is not than others will state so, until that time he gets the benefit of the doubt from me.

Thanks for helping me clarify here. I'm not sure how the issue got confused in the first place? I'm sure not trying to hurt anyone or be misleading. Have a good day!

We have not worked with each other. You have just pulled the rug out from under us before. If my memory is correct it's been around 2 or 3 years. Since this happened, I had several loads of hay in SD to bring to Laramie. The buyer here in Laramie called wanted a rate. We gave him a rate $1200.00 on 320 miles. ( these were loads of big round bales so oversized permits were required ) Then the buyer calls us back and tells us. The people that they are buying hay from got a rate from a Broker which happened to be TFI. Which happened to be $900 on the same miles. The only good thing that came out of this is my customers learned a very valuable lesson.

Scott he should have put the s*** over in the for sale section rather than this maybe he knows he needs to lift his post from this forum and do it correctly . The fact remains he has been called out that he is a bad broker house.

Jason, I don't know what to tell ya man? I'm just trying to help a friend out. I can't stop you from thinking what you will. As for posting in the wrong spot, I'm not tryign to "sell" anything here. I won't make a dime if anything comes of this so I'm unsure as to why I should be in a different spot on the forum? No goods or service will be changing hands for me? So, call me out all you want but there's nothing for me to defend here? What you are going on about here is really just confusing me because I have no idea what you're talking about?

Justin, I have no recollection of this but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I'm sure something happened with what you're talking about, I just don't remember and since we never actually done business together, I don't have notes in my system at all about anything.

I will say this, if I've done something to offend you, I'm sorry. It's not easy finding trucks to run hay when dozens of different customers are calling you to help them move it for next to nothing rates. There are several much larger brokerages than myself offering trucks to move hay for very cheap rates and it's hard for me to compete at all... I can tell you that I, too, have hundreds of stories just like the one you explained to me here... I've been undercut on several occasions.

I would say this... If the tables were turned here, and it was me in your shoes - based on what you've said I did to you - I'm not sure I would have made a public forum post calling you a "cut-rate" anything? I'm just trying to make a living, same as you. Again, I'm sorry if it was me that hurt you in some way but I certainly never meant to. No matter how hard a person tries, someone's always going to get upset every once in a while. I do have several references from people that I've worked with over the last 5 years. Both shippers & carriers.

Maybe this might be part of the reason why you're getting ragged on a little I have hauled hay on and off for the last seven or eight years even from a broker I have never seen hay hauled anywhere for under $4 a mile regardless where its coming from regardless where its going just a thought

I guess it could be Jason? I will say this, though, I haven't had a customer offer anywhere near $4/mile for a hay load if it's over 250 miles for a long, long time. I think the important thing to remember here is that ultimately, I don't set the rates... ever. The customer does. I offer up an estimate of what I think we might be able to get a load moved for and then the customer has the ultimate say in what they set the price at. I don't know how other brokers work for hay loads, but I don't just set the price, I let the customer do that after I "try" and educate them on what I feel the rates should be and I base that on what I'm seeing loads move for not what I personally feel rates should be... I also leave the door open for negotiation so if a truck calls me with a quote, I'll take it back to the customer and let them know what it can be done for. They either take it or they don't.

My numbers from last month: Average back haul rate per mile for legal loads of hay between 200 & 500 miles - $2.33/mile to the truck. This was the average for 12 legal loads of hay. 3x3's - 3x4's - 4x4's - no tarps. Again, I don't make the rules or the rates, the customer does. Also, I don't agree to take the loads for these rates, the trucks do. I'm just trying to be transparent here...
