PLEASE STOP USING THE TERM "BACH HAUL" there is no room for that terminology in this industry. We need to also call ourselves "transportation specialists" instead of the "td" word. Let's be professionals here and everywhere. We could be in the money if we stick together and start writing to Washington and tell them that CSA and the 14 hour rule is breaking us. Let's do this!!!!

Yes that is so true..the only way that back hauls will disappear is if you make their main haul into your back haul..many just don't get it..funny thing about the CSA? It's getting rid of terrible drivers and companies that don't need to be out on the road..and it keeps you in line making sure that your equipment and you are qualified...crappy drivers and companies caused the CSA..as for the 14 hour rule..if you can't make it in 14 hours..all you will do is go broke faster running 24 hours.and probably die sooner..

I don't believe that for one second Jeff. CSA and FMCSA are nothing more than a legal way to collect more revenue for the state & fed governments. As the fed cut back on state funding the truck inspections increase and fines increase.

Whens the last time you saw a warning ticket issued for a clearance light being burned out? The fine in my area is $127.50 per light. No matter if the light was working 2 hours ago during pretrip. Misspelled entries on logbook are $285+ CC. Plus the driver and carrier both catch a gig in the CSA Score card.

I'll never believe safety is any more than a by product in the trucker shakedown scheme.

At least a ticket you can and should take to court.log books were made to protect the driver from the employer..and today? That's why you run a legal log book ..and you should be decently compensated for your work..as in not hauling cheap loads..

If the 14 hour rule is breaking you then you clearly don't know how to run a trucking business!
What do you purpose? Working 18 hours a day? Would that be enough for you? LMFO ??

If your clearance light is burned out since you did your pretrip or you've misspelled a logbook entry why would you fight the ticket.? After all the officer only wrote it up for safety sake.

Have you ever considered just how dangerous it can be to the motoring public if we have a tractor mudflap thats 2" too short? Or the danger of a logbook entry only having one "t" in Chattanooga?

There are safety..and common sense..if a cop writes you for misspelling or a light that just happened to burn out after you did your pretrip..ask the judge why he has an eraser on the end of his pencil?.or spell check on his computer?.and ask the cop if he ever hit a bump in his patrol car and broke a headlight..opps that's a violation right there..funny how the courts normally have some common sense compared to some of these over zealous cops who have nothing to do..and they need to look good for their Sargent back at the police station.that is why you fight tickets.very good chance you will get out of it..and the cop looks bad in the judges eyes

If you look in the green dot book..if you have 16 people in your truck..you have to have a passenger endorsement.. I was going east bound by roseville California ..bobtailing..not under a load or dispatch..got pulled over and wrote up for speeding 62 in a 55 as I was three axles..asked the cop why that three axle motorhome could go 65 that just passed us..he told me special exemption..so I went to court in roseville and told the judge that I was not under a load..not with any dispatch..and so I should be a motor home as I had a bedroom and kitchen..as in looks like a duck isn't always one..the judge tossed the ticket and kept the cop..honest story. Another time Ely Nevada..had just come across hwy 6 from tonopah NV..empty and had lost a cap..cop pulled me over wrote me a ticket..told me to get it taken off..did at local tire shop..when ticket gave me court date showed up..judge wasn't even in his robe asked if I fixed the problem..told him I had..gave me my bail money back..and threw out ticket.. Many times if you are real nice to the cop..he will not remember you when he gets soepenaed into court..and won't show up..that's happened many times..ohh a good story Oakland California I had a 20 ft container that I was going to drop at the pier..cop pulls me over and says your over loaded and have a stop light out..of course I say no I'm not..she says we're going to weigh you..OK.so she has my registration, log book, manifest, everything with her..headed to truck scales..she decides to go after somebody else..so I go to scales and wait..she weighs truck.everything OK but tells me that my log book was screwed up and she was writing me a ticket for that and the stop light.told her the stop light can go to the registered owner at the pier..wrote ticket..said sign it..I told her the court house is right on the other side of the freeway..I wasn't going to sign it..I called police they told me at least 1/2 hour..after 2 time she told me to sign it had sarget show up..anyway signed ticket..called the state of California CHP internal affairs.. And filed a complaint..went to court.cop wasn't there.judge said she's sick and to reschedule.. Said one week..went there no cop..no more ticket as it was tossed from court.845dollar ticket. So see that's why you go to court..and now when you do and it's tossed ask the judge to make sure it did not go on your CSA score..there are many over zealous cops who look good to their sarget writing tickets..they don't think you will be back..and they get a brownie point and the court gets your bail money...many judges don't care how good this cop wants to look and will think what a BS ticket..case dismissed..

Ohhh and forgot that Oakland story..I was talking to another driver who told me her partner wrote him up for a forged medical card..this was before computers kept any of that information..so that's why you go to court.

Come on now Jeff. You keep telling them super trucker stories and somebody is gonna accuse you of being a Swift driver who's doing his restart and fired up on Red Bull.

Well smart guy, what do you do when you run into a blocked road for 5-10 hours, then, try to make your appointment time? You, do not get too far from home, to really know what most our specialists encounter. I'm not an idiot. For you to say that I'm not running my business wrong is a joke. Every one has different applications, so we can't put everyone in the same sandbox. Especially guys like you that know everything. When does your class start on how to run a business?

Like I said and others have said are true..believe it or not..its your choice..and how one spends that money is up to you..court..house payment?..bail..truck payment? Most would go to non judicial payments

Looks like somebody should make a phone call and make a new appointment time..those excess unreported hours are a thing of the past..don't think so..wait until that log book is taken apart by the cops or that pesky attorney..a log book is the first thing they go after when they sue you in that pesky time consuming accident because you fell asleep..and who pays for it? Every other trucker..with more DOT inspections..insurance rates etc.

Why don't you answer the question? How many hours per day do you need so you don't go broke?

And now you know why the FMCSA and CSA came about.they didn't need it before

They can't..theyre driving to fast to be able to text or write..gotta make that penny..now you know where those pee bottles came from..I don't know about others but I only need 14 or less and have a couple of days off each week..there are to many scales and cops that can and do follow that truck around to bend or fudge a log book any more..

Can't we all just get along.

I didn't see Dave say anything about running illegal or cutting rates. I did notice that the BS is getting deep. I've heard those same heroic trucker tales while I stand in line to pay for my fuel but I've never seen that kind of mularky work in everyday situations
