After a couple hurricanes in Texas and Florida we hauled water for free. Nestle and Artesia offered it up and we pulled it down. What I remeber seeing that I wil never forget is the need for basics. Water, toiletres, ice, means for people to sit and prepare food for those areas that will be really messed up. Stuff we take for granted. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of the FEMA mini trailers outside of Houston. Maybe get some on flats...via FEMA.

Here's a site that lists some things needed after a flood. http://www.floodsafety.com/national/property/cleanup/ Maybe have your representative call his or her counterpart in SC and find out what's needed. I'll call the yahoos that represent my area and see what happens.

Hey Tim,

Here is the email I sent to my Congresswoman, did you contact yours?

Message Subject: Let's help the flood victims in SC
Message Text:
Dear Congresswoman Wagner, The recent flooding events in South Carolina as you know have been brought into the national spotlight. Myself and some other motor carriers across MO & KS would like to figure out a way to get resources to the people hardest hit in Columbia, SC. On the agriculture bulk haulers forum, I said I would contact you and my counterpart in Kansas would contact their congressman. It would be pretty cool if MO & KS led the way to get bulk foods and supplies to those in need. FEMA is difficult to deal with, but if we all did a team effort, much of the hurdles would be quickly overcome. Thank you for your time, I sincerely appreciate it. Kevin McCarty

Would you like a response? Y

Hey Kevin, OMG, it has been many years since I have seen this type of action by government. I got a call late last night from corporate Home Depot wanting me to make sure I register to be a supplier of transportation. They got stuff going on......

Tim, all,

Here is the response from our Congresswoman's office:

Dear Kevin,

Thank you for contacting Congresswoman Wagner and for your kind offer of assistance to those in need due to the flooding in South Carolina. In response to your message, our office reached out to our FEMA congressional liaison, who connected with the Voluntary Agency Liaison (VAL) in South Carolina. Since you gave me your permission to provide the VAL with your contact information, he will reach out directly to you. The individual who should be reaching out to you is:

Louis G. Carrow

Voluntary Agency Liaison

Mass Care and Emergency Assistance

Region IV, Recovery Division

Again, thank you for contacting our office. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us Rep. Wagner's district office in the future if we can be of assistance to you in any matter before the federal government, and thank you for sharing with us your willingness to assist.

Sincerely,

Erin Olson
Constituent Services
Office of Congresswoman Ann Wagner (MO-2)
