Honor and Integrity

Today these words are often times forgotten and believed to be antiquated. Our society believes that you should be able to do whatever you want regardless if it is honorable and has integrity. The Independent Carrier Group shall operate with honor and integrity. If we fail to operate with honor and integrity than we are just more of the problem instead of the solution.

Operating with honor brings respect, dignity, and distinction to an individual. Integrity means having a sound judgment and operating in honesty. Integrity also means being whole, undiminished, as well as having a sound, unimpaired, and perfect condition. This is why I believe that the Independent Carrier Group should and will operate under the banner of Freedom with Integrity.

Let us look at what we consider to be honorable for our industry as a whole, instead of just ourselves. Let us check our individual pride at the door when functioning as a group to better the integrity of our industry. Let us learn the power of integrity by making the right decisions even when our society as a whole thinks we are odd for doing so. I have found that honor and integrity will overcome a lot of objections from others.

We need to evaluate not only ourselves but others in our industry as well. Do we believe that most shippers, brokers, receivers, carriers, are currently operating with honor and integrity?

Honorable criteria:

Shipper, Broker, Receiver:

Offers fair to good rate

Pays their bills in a timely fashion

Pays accessorials when agreed as required

Treats carriers and their drivers with dignity and respect

Does not expect more than they agreed to

Carrier:

Hauls for a fair to good rate

Picks up and delivers as agreed upon

Wins accounts with service not price

Pays operators (drivers) a fair wage for their services

Keeps equipment in good repair

Maintains the dignity and respect with integrity of our profession

Does not expect more than they agreed to

Alfred, no one has put themselves out there as a target like you. You are someone that implements his convictions. I hope you succeed. My greatest respect to you.

"Popularity allows you to live with others
Integrity Allows you to live with yourself "
I have never posted on this forum until now, But I do read what most put on here.

I think you were real close when you spelt it this way. Let us start calling the politicians------ pollutions. All they can do is pollute our freedom with their lack of integrity.

Another thing I forgot to add to the honorable broker list is:

Honorable brokers do not co-broker loads with other brokers. You brokers can say what you may but this is the biggest gripe we carriers have. It should be against the law for you to co-broker just as it is against the law for us to double broker.

We just hauled a load that had been stepped on three times and the originating broker assured me that it was his all the time. Well I guess they really don't have a covenant with the big guy upstairs at all.

I will be sending out the letter this week to the members of our group explaining all the details, as well as posting the proof in our private carrier arena for our members to view. We can no longer tolerate this kind of dishonor and lack of integrity in our industry. We will never haul a load for the broker that told us the mistruth in the first place. I will make it a point to inform their drivers as to the dishonesty as well. It is really said because I thought they were a reputable broker and mega-carrier.

Oh, well sucks to be them.
