If you are used to big power engine's stay away you'll hate it!! I bought a 2012 T660 with one in it and hate it!! I can say it has been very dependable. My fuel mileage isn't as great as every one said it would get either.

Hava MX13 it is a 2016 500 hp. It is so quiet and no problems yet at all. plenty of power and fuel milage went up 1plus mpg over my 2009 ISX 455 hp it starts right up at -20 degrees. I was told to stay away from the Paccar but decided I would try it anyway and glad I did. It is so smooth you have to walk up to it to see if it is running.
My 2 cents for what it is worth

?? for what its worth... our '12 Pete with this engine has been a pain in the ass!! It was always one sensor or another! Idk if it is a harness but def fluid level gage always flashes. Gives exh. Hot sign . Low eng. Tq. Code. All of those are intermittent . Truck goes into limp mode for no dam reason. We just drive it on side street at 5mph(we are lucky to be local and in the country) until it makes its mind up to run. The re gen light comes on once a week or so... better find a safe spot to gen it within 30min . But between all them issues... it does run alright lol !!? 485hp... idk what tq is set at. But... will NOT pull with '07 475 isx. Im sure all emissions crap dont help!

If you buy Paccar motor you better have excellent local support. Like I just told another guy, whether you like Cummins or not more mechanic and parts support on road.

We have a 12 Pete with a paccar that is an absolute nightmare. We have a 16 Pete with a paccar that is making us want to get rid of our isx 550s. You need to get a paccar built after 2013 or you are asking for trouble. Mainly trouble with emissions and electrical systems pre 13, it will drive you crazy.

I’m with Art on this one... A shop that I use for my trucks told me to run away from Paccar, support is terrible along with lots of problems. Need to take back to dealer for a lot of problems.

I run mx-13's. the ones with low fuel pressure rail I have problems with. the ones with high fuel pressure rail runs great so far no issuses.the way I see it the low fuel pressure rail has a spin on fuel filter on top rear left side engine. the high fuel rail pressure rail has a fuel filter that drops in the side engine block molding. plus high fuel pressure rail has 2 fuel pmps.that's how I tell the difference with mx's

I have a 2012 T660 with a MX13 under the hood, absolutely love it. Gets good mileage and has good power. Like others have said your basically tied to working with only peterbilt or kenworth anything engine related but I have good local support so it hasn't been an issue. Can't really find anything bad to say about the engine.

I dont think the forum recognizes phone emojis. It was just a couple of red cheeks/big eyed "why me " look. So it installed the ??s i guess.

I can't comment on a 2012, but I purchased a 2017 T880 and habe put 100,000 miles on it. The engine is a Paccar MX-13. The truck is now getting about 6.9 gpm pulling tankers. I have had no problems with engine or after treatment system. Engine pulls good. However, I will say the engine does not like long idles, goes into regen for about 20-30 minutes. Smooth, quiet engine, but does not have 3rd party support and the filters are EXPENSIVE! More than likely my next truck will have same engine. Ray

I appreciate everyones input. We have decided to chose a different truck. I have heard from others that confirm that if you purchase later models they are great or spend money to delete early models they too are a decent power plant. Thanks guys

One of our owner operators bought a 2012 Pete with this motor and an 18 speed. He bought the extended warrenty which cost a bundle. He started having trouble the second week he got the truck and 40,000 dollars later (even with what little the warrenty coveredbein extra) he finally sold it. The early Paccar motors are like any prototype that comes out. The first ones always have problems and I think that these are no different. early paccar are like the Max force of the International trucks. If you want to see the proof in the pudding, log on to Taylor Martin Auctions at TMILIVE and look up the results of old sales. You will see a dramatic difference in prices with these motors in them.
