sure if funny the minute fuel prices go down the rates immediately fall. Now the the pice of fuel has sharply gone up and you have to fight like hell to get a rate to corrispond with the fuel prices, let alone all the other thing that have gone up like insurance, repair, etc. etc. etc.

When you run on a profit margin you just adjust your fuel line as it goes up or down. Who cares what the broker or shipper says. Their job is to get you to do the job as cheap as possible, your job is to get the job at your margins. If you can't meet on the margins then move on. They are not going to pay one penny more than they have to, neither should any of us take one penny less than our profit margin.

They will be fighting the rate increases over the next year, the sooner we keep saying no to the cheap rates the sooner they will have to go up. They know that there are fewer trucks in the market place right now. They know that electronic logs are going to make availability even worse. We truckers just need to remember that without us moving their freight their shit will rot. It becomes the whole waiting game, while the rest of you have been moving grain in your hoppers for cheap we have been pulling it in dry vans for far more money. Amazing once the grain is bagged and put onto pallets that it commands a higher price.

Price of fuel goes up: rate goes up. We are he ones that should be dictating the increase not the gooberment nor the broker/shipper.
Cost of Insurance goes up: rate goes up
Equipment goes up: rate goes up
Labor goes up: rate goes up

I see individuals that fail to charge an acceptable profit because they fail to charge properly for these simple line items.
