A simple tax for all

TAX

Definition. A fee charged ("levied") by a government on a product, income, or activity. If tax is levied directly on personal or corporate income, then it is a direct tax. If tax is levied on the price of a good or service, then it is called an indirect tax. The purpose of taxation is to finance government expenditure.

My theory is that we need to get rid of the direct tax altogether and go to a simple tax (indirect tax) for all. We currently are paying FET (Federal Excise Tax) on a lot of items we buy. We should then in return scrap the income tax and just use the FET (simple tax) to support our government. This would encourage our government to manage monies according to the status of the economy. Each and every individual regardless of wealth stature would in effect pay their fair share to support the government equally.

I realize the argument would be that this would impact the less wealthy more than it does the very wealthy. In reality it would effect all equally, each wealth structure would make better decisions as to how they use their purchasing dollars. In our current structure individuals actually make decisions on a day to day basis as whether to take a pay raise or not even work because of fear of entering into a new tax bracket. If we eliminate the income tax bracket altogether then every individual would no longer worry about the amount of wealth that they could ascertain. The income tax currently in effect holds individuals back for possibly reaching their full potential.

A simple tax would encourage all to reach the level of wealth that they are comfortable with. Not all of us actually want Billions and Billions of dollars. I have met individuals that actually had very small amounts of money but were indeed some of the wealthiest individuals I have ever meant. Wealth has become in our society based upon the value of ones bank account instead of the value of the individuals in our society. Each of us should support this great nation of ours equally and a simple tax does exactly that. Nobody is excluded from the simple tax, even a child buying candy at the store would be contributing back to our society. Hence why I call it the simple tax, it is so simple that a child can do it.

A simple tax would make it easier to hold our government accountable for their spending and actions. They quite simply would be limited to the amount of money they could spend based upon the income that they have received. No more borrowing future tax dollars on our income, they would be limited as to the maximum and minimum percentage that they could charge for the FET (simple tax). The government would be tied at the hip with our economy and be limited to spending only what they in effect have earned. Yep I know make the government run their operation more like a business, novel approach right?

It is time for we as Americans to step up and take responsibility for the mismanagement of our past governing bodies. We need to stop them from having a blank check book that they can continue to tax future generations on their incomes. The current methodology is not working and has become a spending addiction for our politicians. We would save Billions of dollars by eliminating the IRS by using the simple tax system. Our government would in effect be able to keep a better pulse on the economy on a monthly basis by reviewing the income in and out monthly. Money would hopefully be managed in a better fashion than it currently is. If we had a simple tax rated at 5% on the low side and 10% on the high side, we would be able to start paying off our national debt. None of us are going to stop buying things based upon a simple tax structure. If we don't get control of this almost 20 Trillion in debt there will nothing left for our kids and grand-kids except debt slavery.

I realize that a lot of people out there will state that this will not work. Well I ask in return is our current system working? It is broken and we need to fix it, quit whining and let us do what we used to do best fix the problem and quit being the problem.

Here is the real problem with my simple tax idea (and I am sure that others have thought of it before).

It is just too simple and our government does not like things too simple. They enjoy making things complex to justify their important titles. Keep the rest of us confused and they can control us. I for one am tired of their lies and want them to be held accountable. Let us make it simple for all to understand, then and only then will they have to be accountable for their actions.
