Hello Gentlemen....I have slimmed my equipment inventory down and now in the market for a dump trailer. I am curious for some feedback on a couple of issues: What is the fuel MPG difference between a traditional sheet/post trailer vs. a smooth side dump trailer? And is there a significant weight difference between the two? I guess finally, of the gazillion opinions...what is some feedback as far as ruggedness and such. I am a experienced bucket guy but haven't had these newer smooth side buckets at all. Thanks for your time.

Your not going to get good mpg pulling a bucket. The sheet & post shows dings & load freezes eaiser. The smooth side is double wall won't see dings & load is not right up aginst the cold outer wall.
What are you planning on hauling with it ? |

I have had several sheet/post dump trailers. My PDI ecm program has yieled almost 6 mpg in my W900L. I would like to get past 6 and hoping a smooth side bucket might do it. I have had a half round for the past bunch of years....it gave good performance but I think I prefer a square bottom bucket. I haul all kinds of stuff included potting soil, fertilize, rock, grain, etc....usual ag transport commodities.

I you are in the Market, me personally I'd purchase a smoothside Mac Frameless. The MVP Series was built for increased fuel mileage with the smooth outer panels, and with each panel being a different thickness, they designed them so the panels are evenly distributed for weight purposes and to increase payload capicity.
