Bidding on loads

I said no thanks but did tell them to call the banker and ask if they are financing any owner operator get the name and call them they need to roll cash to keep the operation going these rates offered are for when fuel was 2.25 and tires were 250 not 400 for junk shop rates were 125 hr not 180. Oil was 8.00 gallon not 14.00

But one thing I keep in mind is companies like Loves and Walmart start their drivers out at $90,000 to $110,000 a year. If I'm not bringing home that kind of money as an owner operator I'm either working too cheap or not enough. The shippers and brokers need to realize that they are competing with other trucking companies for available drivers. Cheap rates only exist because somebody is willing to run for that price.

A lot goes into bidding work. But one thing I keep in mind is companies like Loves and Walmart start their drivers out at $90,000 to $110,000 a year. If I'm not bringing home that kind of money as an owner operator I'm either working too cheap or not enough. The shippers and brokers need to realize that they are competing with other trucking companies for available drivers. Cheap rates only exist because somebody is willing to run for that price.

Owner operators have been dropping like flies, Look at the prices on equipment at Ritchie bros auctions lately, folks just aren’t lining up anymore to buy trucks since the ELD.......Meanwhile brokers struggle to cover loads for yesterday’s rates, as government prepares to chase more truckers away with the infamous speed limiter mandate, and Jerome Powell raises those interest rates, inching us closer to 1980, 2.0.

I've had the headache of people asking me to bid on loads. Multiple people wanting bids on the same lanes. We need to start charging for bids if the broker doesn't have the work yet. It's no problem if the load is ready to go. We're basically doing their job for them.
