On board scales

My gauges are most accurate when loading on flat and level ground which is only about half the time. When I load on unlevel ground, the gauges change considerably when the truck and trailer get back to level and have time to settle. I've found if I load the front hopper to 60psi then load the back to 70, the front will climb to 70 by the time the back reaches 70psi. I typically don't need to run the interstate and have a permit for 84,000 on the back roads. With a half tank of fuel I'm usually in the 81,500lb range which means I'm leaving weight on the table. I've attempted to load between the hash marks on the gauges and it seems to be a crap shoot, sometimes closer to 84,000 and sometimes over, so I tend to stay in the sweet spot at 70psi. For a point of reference, I run an 07 379 with a 70" sleeper, and a 16 Tempte Super Hopper that weighs 10,100lbs. If onboard scales are as accurate as they claim to be, I think I could not only save money at Cat scales, but consistently gross out, which should pay for them pretty quick. They don't seem to be unreasonably expensive unless they don't work as claimed. Hopefully this thread will provide some good experience with their use and not turn in to a broker and rate slam fest! 😂 p;

Rite weigh . They are easy to install and one you've calibrated them they're spot on. I wouldn't waste money on air weigh we had three of them the 5600 digital series in the late 90's early 2000 nothing but problems. They sent Jerry Justice a service man for two days to get them to work before the 30 day money back guarantee was up. He had no luck. Posted by a private BulkLoads.com member.	Posted by a private BulkLoads.com member. I have a Right Weigh in the dash for the trailer next to the tractor gauge. Once you get the Right Weigh calibrated it is very accurate. It's real handy to see the trailer weight from the seat.
