Stoughton hopper bottom

I've been told the doors work hard after some use.

We have put alot of miles on ours commerically and do haul quite a bit of meal, grain, and fertilizer. Issues we have had: The traps do work hard if you dont stay on top of greesing them, The brake shoes ride about a 1/4 inch inside the drums, it doesnt really effect braking but looks funny. We have had issues with the orginal button lights on the front and rear where the salt can get at the back of them, they just used silicone sealant and not an acutal plug so the salt will eat through, updated the the newer style and they work just fine. That is about it, structually they have held up well. That being said, when I started buying new trailers they werent even in the running. There are better products on the market for new trailers at the same price points. Also, I HATE the two stage trap design for cleaning out in between loads, always have to get in between the two with a screwdriver or air gun to make sure they are clean.

Where the problem is...if you do a trailer wash...special attention needs to be paid to where the two pieces overlap, not really a problem, water flushes it right out. If you want to try a stoughton. mine is for sale. I got it from a city farmer, he got it from a trucker that hauled meat and bone meal. Interested call 785 285 8099.

They are perfectly fine farm trailers, and that is primarily what we use them for. however, we not have hoppers that run 150,000 miles a year and I won't use the stoughtons on those runs.

I wouldnt say that they are Hard to open, just a pain to clean out. They are perfectly fine farm trailers, and that is primarily what we use them for. however, we not have hoppers that run 150,000 miles a year and I won't use the stoughtons on those runs.

GVWR 70,000#. I paid $19,000 for it, put on 4 new tires. Has a digital scales that gives a pretty accurate weight on the trailer tandem.

Posted by a private BulkLoads.com member.	Posted by a private BulkLoads.com member. The only thing that I couldn't get a full 25 ton , was loose soyhulls. The last load was 21.59 ton probably could get at least another ton on, if you worked at it...but most loaders won't let you work at it.

Never hauled salt or fetilizer or aggregates.

Had a recall on 10 other than that no problems. 68" was biggest I could get in 12 when I ordered my 14. Probably not the the strongest trailer out there but I have had no problem.
