Don't know about sand, but for grain there's no reason you would ever need more than 30000 in cargo, but some companies you haul for will require WAY MORE coverage for some reason. Seems like an unnecessary burden on the industry that they do that. I think 30-50k will take care of anything you can put in a hopper anyway

It depends on the type and the shipper. One of the shippers we haul for requires $100,000 cargo. That’s usually only for treated/coated sand. Problem is, that one company’s requirement makes it pretty much the norm.
