Help Loading Heavier over the road in TX (Amarillo)

May 20, 2019 at 10:14 AM CST
Hello,

We are adding a new container transloading facility in Amarillo at a rail ramp. We will be receiving product primarily by Hopper Trucks. We also plan on setting up some nearby storage which will be a few miles away from the rail ramp. This means we will have to move loaded containers a few miles over the road.

We want to figure out how to get as heavy as possible in Texas.

Standard Max weights for containers on standard chassis yields a cargo weight of 43,000 - 48,500 Lbs.

We can get a permit to haul only 5% more. That is not enough to add value.

My idea is to use flatbeds, a top lift and strap the containers on for a short haul.

Could we put a loaded 40'Ocean container onto a flatbed and in the end yield a heavier cargo weight?

Does anyone have any experience or ideas?

Thank you,
