Canadian grain farmers say the federal government needs to do more to help Canadian producers caught in the middle of a trade war between the United States and China. In a release Tuesday, Grain Growers of Canada said the ongoing trade feud between two of the world’s biggest economies “is having a significant impact on grain farmers across Canada.” “In addition to the recent suspension of canola imports from Canada over unproven phytosanitary concerns, soybean prices are dropping and imports to China have slowed to a trickle, reaching levels not seen in a decade,” Grain Growers of Canada stressed, adding buyer uncertainty is extending to other Canadian agricultural products.
