TUCSON -The Department of Forestry and Fire Management says just last week they had nearly 20 active wildfires burning throughout Arizona. As of Monday, Coronado National Forest put their fire risk at high. They have also deployed additional firefighters to prepare them for what could be a busy wildfire season. Since mid-June, the Department of Forestry and Fire Management says there have been over 700 fires through 2019. Those fires have burned at least 56,000 acres with 650 of them being human-caused. “All it takes is a glowing ember and a little puff of breeze like you see around us and that’s all it takes to lift something hot out of the fire and deposit on the grass with pine needles,” Heidi Schewel Coronado National Forest Public Affairs Officer said, “That’s when your going to have a wildfire start.”
