“As consumers start to spend more on services, you’re starting to see some substitution away from goods consumption, and that gives the entire system a chance to catch up,” Bingham said. “Catching up” eventually frees up capacity. Across the board, speakers at the digital event stressed capacity is tightly constrained at the beginning of the fourth quarter, thanks to continuing high freight demand.
