Three generations of Hansons talk trucking, family legacy and loss

From an early age, Edward “EN” Hanson remembers riding in the cab of a truck or tractor with his dad and grandpa. “I don’t remember a time in the fall I wasn’t in a truck,” the 21-year-old said. And now, after earning his associate degree in agribusiness from Joliet Junior College, EN has moved into the driver’s seat. His timing couldn’t be better. “It’s crazy how much work there is,” he said from his grandpa Ed’s garage in Clifton. EN and Ed both drive trucks locally, and EN bought his own truck last year, hauling everything from lime to fertilizer. The national truck driver shortage has led to the recent increase in demand, and EN notes he usually has to turn down a few calls a week.
