Transportation crews, drivers brace for winter weather; start preps in Columbia Gorge

"We expect the forecast to change our game plan will evolve with it. We want to be prepared, and we want to get ahead of any snow or ice that comes to Portland. And we encourage the public to do their part and be prepared as well," said bureau spokesperson Dylan Rivera. Some drivers aren't taking any chances, like Jean Dorizar, a truck driver from Florida. "I shut down once they had the chain laws in effect, just to be safe," said Dorizar. The Oregon Department of Transportation says it has crews on standby, ready to work long shifts to keep roads safe.
