Before departing on a two-hour van tour of Houston, Todd Stewart, the president and owner of a local trucking company, thought he knew the city well. But over the course of the unconventional excursion, he was exposed to a more sinister reality about the city he calls home.

Winding through familiar city streets on the tour three years ago, Stewart was shown areas of high-probability human trafficking, locations that often intertwined with his own industry. Houston is one of the largest hubs for human trafficking in the nation, according to the Justice Department.
