FARMER SEES ABOVE AVERAGE YIELDS DESPITE GRAIN QUALITY ISSUES

Southern Ohio farmer Greg Corcoran says he’s seeing grain quality issues in both corn and soybeans. “The grain is not dried down to where we want to be,” he says. “We planted short-season early corn and it’s still holding a lot of moisture and we’re fighting soybeans that are still above 17 percent.” Corcoran tells Brownfield his corn is at or above 25 percent moisture. “Trying to dry 10-11 points out of the corn is taking a lot of inputs,” he says. “Propane is taking a lot more time and it’s hard on the equipment.”
