VESTAL (WBNG) -- A new bill has been signed into law. It will free trucking companies from potentially hefty legal fees. The new law allows for the removal of indemnity clauses in trucking contracts. It will protect trucking companies in New York State from being blamed for cargo damage, even if the damage was not the fault of the driver. Small trucking companies will be able to grow without fear of liability. "Most of trucking in New York is done by small, family-owned trucking companies and it's very difficult to compete in New York and this is just one burden that's lifted off of small trucking companies and small businesses," said CEO of Leonard's Express, Ken Johnson. |
