Mention “innovation” and most people think of Silicon Valley companies, from Facebook and Google to the latest, hottest unicorn start-up with a disruptive app. Yet I’d argue that trucking is the most innovative of all — with more potential than any other industry to drive economic, social and environmental benefit.
Frankly, this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone in our business. Innovation is a key part of trucking’s DNA. The industry has consistently addressed disruption through radical innovation.
Consider this: Over the last 50 years and more, the U.S. trucking industry has been confronted multiple times by profoundly disruptive forces. Yet it has always risen to the challenge, adapting in ways that have made its customers wildly more productive.
