What are some pros and cons of pulling a belt trailer over a hopper? What are some products that you can haul only in one or the other? Any advice will help.

Belt trailers can unload anywhere, and hoppers can only unload into a pit or elevator. Hoppers are lighter and can haul more payload, and are cheaper to maintain than belt trailer. Some products will bridge and stick in a hopper, and a belt trailer will have no problem unloading the same product, such as mill run, bone meal, bakery, compost. Goods and bads for both, just depends on what you haul. Hoppers dont leave the mess that belts do when unloading. Belts are more versatile because you can unload just about anything. anywhere. Hope this helps.

I have seen time with some colleagues with a belt trailer where a shipper will not load a belt trailer with the reason of possible load contamination because it is harder to get a belt trailer clean with so many small places to get to. I run a hopper and an end dump. I like the belt trailer, its a good piece of equipment. Another thought I have is many belt trailers pull hard because they catch alot of air causing mpgs to fall off. Just what I've noticed. ...have good luck and be safe.
