You would have thought this experience would have made Mr. Cheepass want to contract all of his loads with Jack, but Mr. Cheepass just could not help himself. He wanted to keep trying to obtain the cheapest truck possible with Mr. Dumb Brokeragent and his firm. There were many more re-powers that occurred over the next few months. One day an honorable broker friend of Jack's called and asked if he would work with him on a dedicated run for Mr. Goodass Shipping. Jack agreed to meet and established his rates at $3.45 per mile all miles which came out to $1725.00 for the 250 mile run. Mr. Honorable Broker charged Mr. Goodass Shipping $4.31 per mile all miles or $2155.00 for the 250 mile run. Mr. Goodass Shipping realized that it would cost $4.40 per mile if he were do it on his own truck and felt like this was a good deal for all. Mr. Goodass Shipping not only got the service that he desired but also knew that he was protected by two layers of insurance thereby reducing his exposure to the law suit happy world that now existed. In the end, Jack Hammer's patience and persistence ended up getting his company exactly what they needed. Mr. Cheepass and Mr. Dumb Brokeragent ended up having a falling out over the consistent lack of service that was being given. Mr. Goodass Shipping ended up forming a partnership with Mr. Honorable Broker, and Jack Hammer and they ended up buying out Mr. Shippen Cheepass's business and then turned around and paid everybody the wages they deserved. The new company doubled it's profit in the first quarter because the products quality and service now increased and more customers desired the better products.

In the end, I often ask what came first the lazy dumb workers or the cheap ass companies that just want dumb workers. You will never get quality products or services from underpaid workers or services. If you are a cheap ass on those very important items, then most likely you are a cheap ass in all forms of your business. Cheap assness will be reflected in the quality of your products and you will in the end find that you have more headaches and end up making less profit, than if you had done it right in the first place. Cheaper has never been better than quality.
