Speed Limiter Comment (General Motoring Public Request)

I am asking the general motoring public to help us in the comment section with the FMCSA. We need their help as well. Here is what I am sending out and posting about, feel free to share.

Speed Limiters and the effect it will have on our lives

Right now the government is contemplating applying speed limiters to big trucks all across this nation of ours. You may ask how will this impact our lives? This will cause bottleneck situations on a daily basis all across the land. Today there are approximately 200,000 trucks running down the road that are limited in this country, imagine if tomorrow there were now over 2 million running in the same fashion. We truckers can tell you horror stories about limited trucks running down the highway for miles trying to pass each other, we truckers call that drag racing (slow style). We have seen lines of cars for miles weaving in and out trying to get past one another. Finally we have seen cars start passing the trucks on the shoulders. This is what is currently going on, imagine this being multiplied 10 times or greater.

How is this going to impact all of us?

  1. Traffic congestion will increase, and accidents will also increase

  2. Most of us will have to leave even earlier for our schedules then we currently do

  3. A lot of you will find it even harder to get on the interstate due to the long lines of trucks running the same exact speeds

  4. Road rage incidents will increase at a greater rate between big trucks and other automobiles

  5. Rear end collisions between automobiles and big trucks will increase

We truckers are trying to improve our relations with the motoring public, but the law makers continue to regulate us in such a fashion that it makes it hard. They continue to write laws that cause us to drive more and more fatigued in the name of supposed safety. The laws past seemed to have very little concern to the average American, here finally is one that all of us can relate with. It will impact the majority of us in a negative way, and actually make our highways unsafer. Driving slower for 11 hours straight each and every day will add to the truckers fatigue. We the truckers are asking that you the general motoring public help us by adding your thoughts to the FMCSA comment section. It is easier to get the law makers to not enact a law instead of trying to get them to deactivate a law. This is your opportunity to let the government know in advance that you are dissatisfied with the route they are going.

We the people are being controlled by special interest groups that don't have our interest in mind at all. This is just one example of many, this special interest group, (the ATA, American Trucking Association) is comprised of all the biggest trucking companies in the United States as well as Canada and Mexico. They claim that they need the speed limiters put on trucks to level the playing field with us smaller carriers. In the end it is not about safety at all, just about big corporate America pushing their weight around with their dollars to control we the people.

It is not often that we in the trucking community reach out to the general public and ask for help, but this is a campaign that effects not only we truckers but you as well. We in the smaller Independent Carriers believe that we should all have Freedom with Integrity. This topic transcends race, religion, sex, and political beliefs, it effects all of us. We truckers are a very diverse community and represent the fullness of our country, we just desire to take back what is ours Freedom with Integrity. We thank you in advance for your support, please pass this on to others along with the link and help us get 1 million comments or more.

You are looking to be right. Only 1796 people have made comments thus far. Everybody will whine and complain but will not even take five minutes of the precious day to tell the FMCSA what the do or don't like. Only 2213 of us made comments about the ELD's and then we wonder why the ATA wins. The government actually tried to do something right when they brought regulations.gov on line for us to comment on. How in the heck is the government supposed to find out if you like something or not, if you fail to tell them. It is a little to late when they have went ahead and made it law. What a shame to have the ability to tell the government how you feel about something and then not take advantage of it. There are many things I comment on, not even trucking related.
