Emission checks in northern Colorado

Apr 18, 2017 at 09:57 PM CST
Just heard about a guy who got his emissions inspected in northern Colorado yesterday on a deleted truck. $10,000 fine for first offense. Plus the thousands he will have to spend to make it compliant again. Also needs to take his straight stacks off and put mufflers back on. Everything back to factory and then has to be inspected again before it hits the road again.

Well i run down there all the time and never heard anything about that. And i had 8 inch straits on mine with a muffler on mine been through the scales never bothered me any. And ive even had seen them check the muffler out also. And i cant beleave the dot is doing this but maybe. But as far as running strait pipes its legal to run them as long as you have a muffler or its like a $850 fine.

Right this guy had a deleted truck and took the mufflers off and had straight pipes all the way. Completely different from what you are running.

with all the talk on the forum boards and advertising to do deltes , its a wonder that several states have not started doing emissions teting on trucks. its pretty widely publicized just about everywhere on the internet. not like some deep dark secretively covert thing that only a few know or have heard about. just a matter of time before the feds and states see a new way to make some quick cash.

What's the deal with CO and straight pipes? I wonder if there's any Harleys in Colorado...

Inspector at Limon told me the straight pipes disturb their animal habitat. He didn't give me a ticket but he told me I better fix that before I came back through
