Boycott the blue beacon

So my driver and myself sat in line at the blue beacon in new Paris ,oh for two hrs this week just to be told they refused to do a trailer wash out on our end dump trailers because we didn’t have a barn door to open but we do have a man door with steps and grab handles on the front of the trailer that they said they weren’t allowed to use we were turned away.at 2pm I then had to call the broker and tell them we couldn’t haul the load which was feed grade because it required a wash out I lost a $2500 load and now have a block mark with them . I know go to another truck wash. But it was 80 mi away an till we go there and get back the shipper would be closed plus all the extra miles I would have been hauling for $1 a mile we ended up going home empty! Never in my 30years of driving has this happened before at a truck wash. New generation is lazy and don’t want to work.not to mention that the blue beacon should be sued for safety reasons once in there drive way you can’t even leave for medical reasons or even a fire everyone in line is doomed.

I was not aware that Blue Beacon did anything other than Reefer/Van washouts. They are never on my call list of Hopper. I have come across 1 that did hopper washout, but generally I never assume they do.

I happen to like Blue Beacon for EXTERIOR WASHES ONLY. If you go where the bullhaulers go for a trailer washout you probably won't have a problem. In the rare case I have a load that requires a washout I call ahead to make sure they will wash my trailer type.

I've never been one to defend Blue Beacon but thats been their policy for as long as I can remember and I've been pulling end dumps since the 90's.

It's pretty well known that Blue Beacon has that policy. This is nothing new.

The blue beacon does a lousy job on truck washes. Also, they’re only good for a spray, and go in very overpriced.

There is a place right near New Paris that does Hopper/Dump Trailer Washouts I believe and they will clean the inside of your trailer in Richmond, Indiana which is right across the state line. The name of the place and information is listed below and may help you if you run into this situation again:

Miller Transportation

1655 Rich Rd.

Richmond, IN 47374

765-962-5548

You may want to call ahead before going just to confirm they are still doing them but they were as a few months ago.

Should have called ahead and asked. It has always been their policy, they do not climb up on trucks. They only use their equipment to get into a end dump if it has a barn door. Far as suing the Blue Beacon, if it is a medical reason, you should be going out in a ambulance not your truck and if there is a fire, you run. Nobody to blame but yourself on this one. By not picking up the phone it cost you the $2500 load not Blue Beacon.

You should think back to all the times you've visited blue beacon and ask yourself. When have you ever seen them do a trailer washout on something other than a reefer.

If you want it done right, do it youself. They are quick. Surely you look better coming out than you did when you went in. I only get a wash on the road a couple times a year. They have quite a system. A good crew is kinda fun to watch.

The Minot ND Blue Beacon is THE ONLY ONE in the country that will do hopper washouts.

Do any of you have a set up where you can wash it out yourself if you get somewhere and get in a bind and can't find someone for 100 miles? If so, what kind of set up do you have and how do you get past the washout receipt?

There's only a couple Blue beacns in the country that washout hoppers when I started the drivers swepp out there trailers in the late 80's never got turned down for a dirty trailer ow guys leave the unloading facility with 200 to 1000 lbs of previous product thats a lot of why wash is require FDA guide lines are sweep out wash or sequence loads

We mounted a small water tank and power washer to a car trailer, and created the washout ticket in Microsoft Word with our company information at the top. We do a thorough job, and havent had any issues yet.

There are maybe 4 or 5 Blue "streaking" Beacon that will do hopper washouts. I dont even bother trying to figure out which ones those are.
