Calcium Carbonate

I currently haul dry bulk cement in aluminum 1040cf pneumatic tankers. I have been ask to submit a bid to haul calcium carbonate. Has anyone hauled this before? What kind of aluminum trailers 3 pods, 4 pods? What size valves 5" or 6"? Do you use vibrators or top air to unload it? How many cubic feet in the trailer do I need? any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Everything will function the same as cement. The only difference could be the size of the tank. It depends on the grade of calcium carbonate. Ask for a product data sheet to get the density of the product then compare it to cement. Some simple algebra will tell you what size trailer, relative to cement, you will need.

The only issues that i have ever ran into hauling Cal Carb is the size of your trailer. Alot of times, these facilities requires a trailer with a 11' or taller height.

However each facility has their own requirements as far as bottom drop or air drop. These are good questions to ask the Shipper you are bidding for.
