Beware of Mid South Milling

Beware Mid South Millings detention rates 4 hours free and $25.00 an hour what a f....ing joke. Anybody looking to haul for them better watch out. It took us 8 hours to load out of Long Praire MN and 14 hours to unload in Fort Smith AR. We made the mistake of not checking out their detention policy prior. TEAM SR is $100 hr after 1 hour on detention no cap. Dont make the same mistake that we made. Check it out First

Our plant does not open until 6am Monday. How is it that you posted this at 9:17am on Monday and the truck had already waited 14 hours? Did your truck arrive at 6pm on Sunday? We were closed.

If I had to guess, I would think he is not posting about a load that is from today, rather a past load. Normally you don't find out how bad things are until you have done a load. What are your detention policies? Just asking for a friend.

The lack of response tells me the detention policy is no detention.😂

My policy is to not do business where a detention policy is needed.

I thought it was a fair, professional question so we all could see both sides of the coin. I would hope that he sees this stream and replies.

Shouldn't be to hard to look for his company in your shipping records.

I stand by my earlier statement. Actually Brian is sort of back in a corner on this one. If they have a policy of no detention, he looks bad. If he doesn't respond further he has plausible deniability. Either way, they most likely don't pay detention. If it was me and I had a fair detention policy I would have broadcasted it loud and proud for everyone to see.

I waited 24 hrs to load in Hyrum Utah(due to plant fire) for MSM...NEVER received any detention. Brian responded with there were several trucks that waited as long, and I was not the only truck. This was 11 months ago...spoke with Brian requesting detention. Brian Never offered anything.

In this case " silence is not golden " , in fact the silence from this Brian guy speaks volumes about his so called detention policy.

I wouldn't doubt anything about MSM.

Sat in the one in Memphis on Monday all day, about 2 months ago, arrived at 0700, 3 trucks ahead of me, got empty and out at 6 PM, no detention.

Then had a load out of there I arrived at 5pM, said my load wasn't ready, was going to Laurel MS, I got loaded at 2 AM.

I won't be back, but I did try twice once loading out, once bringing hauling in.

I've noticed that Mr. Brian Smith didn't have any other comments to make about his companies detention policies. Just the one smartass reply made on October 5

MSM's detention policy at our plants is $50/hr after 2 hours as long as the truck loaded and is delivering on the orginal scheduled dates. For waits at our suppliers, we will forward reasonable requests.

To my knowledge this is the only load Team SR has hauled directly for MSM.

It was not a professional question, "what a f....ing joke." And their detention request policy is not in line with the industry "TEAM SR is $100 hr after 1 hour on detention no cap." MSM would not have contracted Team SR to haul the load knowing thier detention request policy.

Sorry for the late response. I was out of the office last week.

Good day, you did not book the load with me but another individaul in this office. We forward every reasonable detention request to our suppliers and 99% are approved. Every time someone calls me about detention, I ask them to send an email so that there is a "paper" trail. Phone calls are poor business communication and are easily forgotten in the busyness of the day. It is the carriers responsibility to request detention by reporting their wait time and the amount requested. I see one email in my history between yourself and the other MSM employee and the email simply states the inital wait time. I see no follow up email requesting detention.

Mr Lassiter, you are not set up to haul for MSM which tells be you are using a broker. Did you communicate with your broker? Did your broker communicate with our transpotation team? Did your broker request detention? We can often times make things happen at our plants but not if there is no communication.

Poor communication = poor results

I hauled for a broker I use most of the time, I was in communication with him and he said MSM won't pay detention? I've hauled both in and out of the places in Memphis TN and FT Smith AR, no detention, and I now know not to be delivering on Monday at Memphis location, brought a load from Arkansas City Ks there, nasty stuff.
Was even asked about loading and going to MS could run back and forth all week and "supposedly be loaded like a company truck and load ahead"but I dont believe that either.

Ive tried hauling several times, I'd say it's not worth it, that junk I brought out of Arkansas City, Angus meat and bone, was 4.5 hours to dig out after being there for 8 for my turn, vibrators on and 4 dudes up top digging with rebar.

The wait time and the dents are a good reminder.
