Convoy escorts Wyoming trucker to cemetery

About 40 of the rigs formed a convoy to escort the one with a flatbed trailer carrying the casket of Dennis Shafer of rural Wyoming from Lenz Memorial Home in central Lacon to a rural cemetery in the northwest corner of Marshall County. Shafer, a second-generation trucker and farmer, died Dec. 21 at age 47 after a long illness. He left behind his wife, Rita, who runs a day care, and five children at home, as well as his parents and a brother.
