Distancing encouraged for those selling grain to Poet, local elevators

Mar 27, 2020 at 10:53 AM CST

Like many South Dakota businesses that have opted to keep their doors open, local grain purchasers are taking precautions to minimize the risk of COVID-19. Poet's facility near Loomis has made changes with the goals of both matching its corn intake to expected ethanol demand and minimizing contact between people on-site. Only overrun on existing contracts is being bought, and visitors are not currently allowed in the facility's offices or scale house. Checks are also being mailed, rather than available for pickup.
