South Dakota farmers have significantly more grain in storage this year than at this time last year

South Dakota corn stocks in all positions on March 1, 2024, totaled 502 million bushels, up 23% from 2023, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Of the total, 335 million bushels are stored on farms, up 31% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 167 million bushels, are up 8% from last year.
