ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) — The first grain ever moved from the St. Joseph Port Authority is on its way down the Missouri River. Transport 360, which operates the St. Joseph port, said two barges filled Monday with grain will go to New Orleans before likely being shipped internationally. A third barge loaded Monday is carrying sandbags downriver for a project. The St. Joseph News-Press reports Transport 360 general manager Jason Laipple says port officials have been told the Missouri River should stay at or below flood stage for the next couple of months.
