Grain Truck Accident Reminds Drivers to Be Cautious During Harvest Season

Nov 06, 2014 at 02:06 PM CST
NEAR LAWTON, IA - Traffic is flowing smoothly again on Highway 20 in Woodbury County after a Wednesday morning accident.

A grain truck was hit by a minivan after turning onto the highway near Lawton, Iowa. The driver of the van was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the grain truck was not hurt.

The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office says this is a cautionary tale.

"Well at this time of the year especially harvest season going on. We see the tractors and the trucks their trying to do their job. If people see the trucks they need to back off, they need to slow down they need to give them more room," said David Benson of the Woodbury County Sheriff's Office.

The van suffered a complete loss.
