We as owners have the ability to say no. On the other hand the broker community has a responsibilty to offer something that is resonable and sustaining. The brokers that plan on staying in this area are in just as bad a position as the truck owners when TQL, PLS , UTI and others are lowballing everything and hoping that the idiots will haul for them and dragging the whole community down. No one admits to hauling the cheap stuff but we all know that it happens. We just don't always know who is being stupid. The really good brokers, Tommy Wilhelm, The Taylor Family, Duane at Furnas County and others have just as tough a time as us truck owners right now. Blaming ALL Brokers is not the answer. It is exactly the worst scenario. WE need to support the brokers that actually know what the pricing needs to be. Same with shippers, run for the good ones, but don't give them a break if they tell you, hey do me a favor, I can't eat favors, and my banker don't care. Brokers that are in it for the long haul, not the ones looking for a short term gain, need our support. We need to indentify the good ones as a group and work with them and we might live through this as a group. Alfred has a new website and is trying to help. Whether the newer people want help from us old guys or not we need to band together and live through this. Those of the people that are pencil pusher number guys that got into this to cut a fat one with the frac sand boom and now have hoppers and don't know your ass from a shovel. Tough crap boys, live by the sword die by the sword. I'm trying to not take this to far and piss some off, but damn it lets start standing up for something. I don't want a CARB legal truck, I don;t want a lightweight 55 mph peice of crap that embarrases me or my logo. I have worked my fingers to the bone to give my people and my family nice trucks that they can be proud of, old school proud. To me this has been, on this forum a pissin match between brokers and truck owners. Thats just what the bottom feeders want. This needs to be an all out war between those of us that have fought our way up the ladder and want to be bulk freight haulers each and every day and the bullshit brokers that want to screw us right out of existence. I know that the brokers can only say so much, but a few have stood up. I will listen to any resonable solution from any entity that is small, family based and can make feel that we can pull together.
