But to keep from having a monopoly market, they had to sell some of the area to AT & T. Which most of the area is up here in the midwest. You should have been getting info in the mail from Alltel about the change, which is suspose to happen in April. You have to get a new phone, but they are giving you a free one, with choice of about 5-6 different models. If you want a better phone like the Apple I-phone, you can purchase one. I have received our new ones allready, and am just waiting for them to tell us when the official day to switch is. All so, you want to have your phone book numbers transfered before the day of the switch, because once that day comes they won't be able to get the numbers off your old phone, (have fun putting all those numbers in again). As far as you service, it should be better than before. They are suspose to be upgrading all the towers to 4G. If you accept anything from the new company, you are effectively entering into a new contract with them, locking yourself into an early termination fee if you decide the service isn't up to par and want to cancel. If it ends up that Verizon is taking over your account, I'd lean towards sticking with them as their coverage is better than AT&T's, plus, you were most likely running on Verizon's network in the past as Verizon and Alltel had roaming agreements with each other. You stated you were happy with your Alltel service, so Verizon shouldn't be any different as far as signal and coverage goes.\n \n I would wait and see who is going to be taking over your account. If you're not appy with the result, cancel your service. They won't be able to charge you an early termination fee becaue your contract was with Alltel, not the new copany. Also, if you choose to cancel and switch carriers, cancel your service AFTER you find a new carrier, as the new carrier will be able to port your old number to your new phone.
