AVERAGE INCOME FOR A HOPPER TRUCK DRIVER

I'm out 3 or 4 weeks at a time and only make 25% after the broaker takes its percentage. No insurance or anything else. I have been driving for over 25 years and have a clean driving record. Thinking about buying my own truck again. I sold it to this farmer a little over a year ago and tried working a 9 to 5 job but couldn't make enought money. The way rates are now, I have to run 4000 miles a week just to bring home $1000 a week.

But those that can weather the storm will see those people go under. I have been around trucking and farming all my life. Its the same story about everything. Someone always wants to do it for less. WELCOME TO AMERICA. They dont call it "Land of the Free" for nothing. So you find ways to make it work just like I do. Dont get rich, just make a nice living. Thats all I ask for.

Everyone runs hoppers down in the dirt. I agree that we all need to keep rates up by sticking together, but there is no way that is EVER going to happen. There will always be someone out there will do it for nothing to keep wheels turning. But those that can weather the storm will see those people go under. Be a company driver till you can pay cash for a truck and not have to make payments. Stay away from payments. It is easy to borrow but hard to pay back. That will make all the difference if you don't have to make a payment. Then you can deciede if and when you want to work.

It is easy to borrow but hard to pay back. That will make all the difference if you don't have to make a payment. Then you can deciede if and when you want to work.
