Had a load from a VERY good shipper this am and early am had a trucking company to call for the load. After checking the Carrier out I sent them a rate confirmation and received it back signed. Carrier's driver was to call Shipper asap for pickup instructions since it was a blind shipment and for over an hour and a half I kept calling both dispatch and the driver with no luck of getting an answer. Finally got dispatch and was told driver was out of vehicle and would call shipper within 20 minutes. Well long story short, Shipper cancelled load after being more than patient waiting for a couple of hours. On my rate confirmation I have that a $150 fee will be charged to Carrier for no show. I am always fair to my Carriers and even gave them a higher rate than I initially offered. After first communication via phone with them, no phone answered and to this moment driver still does not answer nor does he have voice mail.\n \n Since Shipper had to cancel due to delay in communication and response from driver can I now initiate a no show and how do I enforce it? Simply send an invoice? First bad experience with a Carrier and thus far our company had good reputation with Shippers and Carriers alike so now one Shipper will see us in a darker light :( This is not acceptable to me. I am one who is all about giving Shippers good service and being fair to my Carriers but what does a Broker do when a violation occurs and load is cancelled due to part of your Carrier? Any feedback is welcome. Still learning...... Guess had to have a bad experience finally to learn how to deal with it and prevent it in the future. Hope one of you guys can steer me correctly in what to do now and how to prevent.\n \n Oh and carrier was given Shipper info since it was blind shipment. I just don't understand why the shipper would cancel a load just because the Carrier did not show up. Wouldn't they just look for another Carrier? I then sent an email with a copy of rate confirmation attached and an invoice. The truck manager called me and said he was not made aware of the situation until getting the email and he had spoken to both dispatch and the driver before calling me. The time dispatch had called me, he said she had not even made contact with the driver so driver was not aware there was a load scheduled or that he needed to call. The number dispatcher had given me was not even the drivers current number and is why there was never an answer. Truck manager said his dispatch had gone to an auction without his knowledge and several things fell thru the cracks this am and he apologized. He stated that he wanted to make good on everything and offered to carry a load in the area next week at half price however I begin chemo and radiation again next week so planning to take off the week so then he offered to pay part of it but said he could not do all of it. We agreed on $75 and he started giving his credit card information for me to process and I simply said in the middle of taking the number that I appreciate him trying to do the right thing and being accountable and not to worry about it. We talked a bit more after that and yes though frustrated and yes although he may have not been fully honest, at least he was willing to make good on what he knew had gone wrong not just by my words but because he had spoken to his staff and driver and also ended up speaking to the Shipper to know the full story. On my rate confirmation it goes on to say if an emergency situation arises and notification is provided before load or appointment time, no fee applies so I don't feel I am unfair in the no show fee portion of my confirmations and even asked if that seems unfair to a Carrier and surprinsigly, he says he sees this on over half on his confirmations from Shippers and Brokers alike and best to keep it on there because for him and others it keeps them on their feet. For me, things are always about the prinicple of the matter and accountability. As he said someone else would have tried to slander their company, I could have reviewed them badly only, etc. but I didn't. Not my style. Just wanted feedback how to handle it the right way and I appreciate you kindly giving advice that turned out to be helpful. Now i know some shippers are cheap. I have been on both ends dispatch and broker. I know how badly brokers cut rates. Normally you pay way to low and you get what you are paying for. I'm not saying it is correct for a carrier to drop a load once you agree to the cheap rate you need to take it. But please to all brokers I want to say be more fair. Understand how much it takes to run a carrier company. When all the drivers and carriers are put out business, who will then pull your freight or any other freight. Carrier Fail! What to do?! Ugh....need advice

WOW! HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THIS? Had a load from a VERY good shipper this am and early am had a trucking company to call for the load. After checking the Carrier out I sent them a rate confirmation and received it back signed. Carrier's driver was to call Shipper asap for pickup instructions since it was a blind shipment and for over an hour and a half I kept calling both dispatch and the driver with no luck of getting an answer. Finally got dispatch and was told driver was out of vehicle and would call shipper within 20 minutes. Well long story short, Shipper cancelled load after being more than patient waiting for a couple of hours. On my rate confirmation I have that a $150 fee will be charged to Carrier for no show. I am always fair to my Carriers and even gave them a higher rate than I initially offered. After first communication via phone with them, no phone answered and to this moment driver still does not answer nor does he have voice mail.

Since Shipper had to cancel due to delay in communication and response from driver can I now initiate a no show and how do I enforce it? Simply send an invoice? First bad experience with a Carrier and thus far our company had good reputation with Shippers and Carriers alike so now one Shipper will see us in a darker light

:( This is not acceptable to me. I am one who is all about giving Shippers good service and being fair to my Carriers but what does a Broker do when a violation occurs and load is cancelled due to part of your Carrier? Any feedback is welcome. Still learning...... Guess had to have a bad experience finally to learn how to deal with it and prevent it in the future. Hope one of you guys can steer me correctly in what to do now and how to prevent.

Oh and carrier was given Shipper info since it was blind shipment. How do I prevent Carrier from ever contacting Shipper for loads or is that not possible?
