I guess one gets tired of working his backside off and not get paid a decent wage.. Why is it that truck drivers aren't covered under most Labor laws.. No OT after 40 hours a week, no required lunch and break during the day.. And the list goes on. The only hing basically is covered is you have to at least make minimum wages..So see truck drivers are just like some kid working at 7-11.. There is the cops that have a power trip and enjoy writing bogus tickets..or give you a warning for nothing so they can affect your CSA score..Maybe qualified drivers found that there is actually a life that they can have and make more money, in the process of it...or maybe it's that they found a job where you get paid for your services ...and the list can go on and on ...well buckaroos maybe if the shipper , the receivers, the dispatchers,brokers treated you better and paid a wage that you can live on.. That's right it is nothing new.. But the companies are having problems finding qualified drivers..the word here is qualified.. But all you want to do is try to complain about ones that put posts here regarding subjects that come up. I never run cheap freight. I will go home empty rather than running cheap freight. I don't need to look for customers as I have full time , year round , pays the same customers.. You don't even know me, but you always try to belittle. And yes driver retention is affected by brokers, shippers and customers. Why would somebody want to work for a company who has abusive shippers and receivers.. And who uses brokers that get you loaded with stuff that nobody else will haul.. It is called grief.. Like I also put on my posting..there are many things why drivers don't want to drive truck anymore..and one reason is going places and hearing drivers tell you a line of how good they are, or what they have done. They are also saying in the article..if you read it that the pay is substandard.. They wrote that most drivers earn yearly about 37,000 .. If you figure out how many hours you really work, you would make more money working at mcDonalds. unfortunately i am part of that generation but these guys need to wake up and smell the coffee.some of the changes goi g on in the industry are good and some are bad not alot of guys see them doe big companys are tighting up on who they have haul their products they dont want steering wheel holders they want real truck drivers that care about their job and the load. we got one tru k up in the baken in fact im there now its my rotation they are putting the clamps on hard core they are weeding out the rip rafe hardcore i hear of two co's today that fired drives cause of attitudee and trying to push on the feild man. whats this mean even the oil co's are tired of winny steering wheel holders and the bs they want the guys that take pride and getting ride of who dont trust me their blacklisting drivers like crazy and shortly if to many they warned the will blackist co's hauling for them and everyone now knows y i stuck up for jeff i see it alot and he has a good point i dont want a driver working for me piss of one of my coustomers and i lose the job its time for a big change and for drivers to grow up and take pride and be happy you have a job just wait cause soon that I am not a proooofessional truck driver, I love what I do, even when you get beat up having to wait all day on a load, or have bad shipper or receivers, as I have the choice to go back or not. When I first got into trucking, I realized that there were two types of drivers. The want to be, and the have to be. The want to be is somebody that loves the freedom, and to just be able to drive. The have to be is this is the best job that they can get. And today is the think they are. They think they are a truck driver. You are getting more and more think they are. There are some kids coming into this trade that will be great truck drivers.but the think they are will be the majority . As for always have brokers? Funny thing , we didn't use to have brokers and were able to function. Then the only brokerage was one trucking company with trucks not being able to haul all of their freight, getting another trucking company with trucks ,to haul it for them.. Of course you've always have had the produce brokers, but they aren't any type of trucking company.and like the original post on this thread ..it is QUALIFIED DRIVERS.that there is a shortage of.with all of your vast trucking experience, what was the greatest invention that has been put on trucks over the last 70 years? Air ride, power steering air conditioning and diesel engines.And maybe the interstate system. What is the worst thing that has happened to trucking? Deregulation. Now there will be some that will say deregulation was the greatest thing, and most weren't even born then or driving truck. COMPANIES CAN'T FIND QUALIFIED DRIVERS

Gee ya wonder why.. I guess one gets tired of working his backside off and not get paid a decent wage.. Why is it that truck drivers aren't covered under most Labor laws.. No OT after 40 hours a week, no required lunch and break during the day.. And the list goes on. The only hing basically is covered is you have to at least make minimum wages..So see truck drivers are just like some kid working at 7-11.. There is the cops that have a power trip and enjoy writing bogus tickets..or give you a warning for nothing so they can affect your CSA score..Maybe qualified drivers found that there is actually a life that they can have and make more money, in the process of it...or maybe it's that they found a job where you get paid for your services ...and the list can go on and on ...well buckaroos maybe if the shipper , the receivers, the dispatchers,brokers treated you better and paid a wage that you can live on.. Maybe, just maybe you could get those qualified drivers back..until then hope for the best
