It is been far too long since we have worked together for a common cause. I believe that now is the time for us independent carriers to come together, hand select the brokers and shippers that we want to work with. If only 1% of us got together we would have the leverage that would equal the Mega-Carrier and the Mega-Broker.\n \n I am sure that most of you saw the news that XPO (a mega-broker) just bought Con-Way for $3B today. (09/10/15) We are currently in the Merger and Acquisistion stage of the trucking industry, when this starts happening, the new kids with their new toy will continue to erode our marketplace even more.\n \n We must join together willingly or we will join together by force.\n \n Any that are interested let me know by putting your MC# (so I know you are a carrier) and your contact info in your posting. Businesses can agree to set their prices high, so that consumers have no choice but to buy at the high price. They can also agree to set mark-ups, sales, surcharges or discounts on goods or services at the same rate. Businesses can also agree to set their maximum purchasing price so that a seller of a product, service or commodity will be forced to sell at the set price. Price fixing can also happen in the credit market, where companies agree to standardize credit terms to consumers. I encourage others to become a member with them for that very reason there. I may not use their insurance, or other services, but they do have some very good services as well as being our lobbying group.\n \n The education that OOIDA provides is a basic cost per mile for you the Indpendent Carrier, while that is very necessary to know in order to keep ones business afloat. I believe that knowing what it would cost your customer per mile to do it themselves is much more important. I believe that a lot of Independent Carriers do not understand this concept. \n \n If we get enough of us together that understand this concept, and we are willing to share it with others like us, we could indeed change the way our industry runs. I have talked with enough of us to know that there are two trains of thought out there.\n \n 1. Why should we care about the success of others? \n \n There are guys like me that are still doing quite well as far as our rates and honestly should not care about the others that keep pulling the cheap freight. Those that pull the cheap freight will not survive anyways and when the market starts to pick back up we will make even more money.\n \n 2. I care about the industry as a whole. \n \n There are guys like me that while we are still doing well as far as our rates that do indeed care about the success of our fellow truckers. We believe that watching the degradation of rates due to ignorance and desperation is not good for any. Case in point: Every time one of these downturns occur it takes about a year or two for us to catch back up with where the market should be. When rates fall they plummet quickly, when they rise, well we are the last ones to receive the benefit. By the time the rates start to get back where they should be, it is time for another fall. You will hear the same excuses time after time, fuel cost are down, freight is slow, the shipper does not want to pay any more, that is all I got in it. Does OOIDA address those issues for us? We hauled for all the above carriers and they paid us very well until the XPO factor entered in. \n \n It is like a reverse of what happened after deregulation, the major trucking firms went down or quit, and became brokers. Now we have brokers buying trucking firms, or in the case of UPS buying Coyote Logistics, trucking firms buying brokerage firms. What are they really buying? More customers, you watch the will end up consoladating a lot of the assets. We will start seeing those assests on the marketplace here shortly. Look what happens when we fail to police up our own vocation. The government steps in and they just can't resist making more and more rules that have little to do with saftey and more to do with control. I used to deal with smaller brokers/carriers that paid honest rates and they were making around $50 per load off of our trucks. After the bond went up then the only thing left by and large were the greedmonsters. Now that you have those that failed in the banking and real estate industry running freight brokerage, it is no wonder why the rates have continued to plummet, they are the masters of squeezing every drop of blood out of a turnip. Look at what they did to their industry prior to 2008, now look at what they are doing to ours. They got away with it over there, are we going to let them get away with it here?\n \n Check out the history and growth of these Mega-Brokers, you will see that they started exploding around 2009 - 2015, their profits started going through the roof. Looks like some greedmonsters entered into the freight hauling arena. Now that they have arrived in the bulk side, things will only get worse not better. They don't care if you or I are still here in 1 yr, 2 yrs, or 10 yrs. Hell they don't even plan on being here for that long, they are building up their portfolio and will sell off for the big pay day and then go find the next widget that they can leech onto and drain the blood from that turnip as well. Now that you have those that failed in the banking and real estate industry running freight brokerage, it is no wonder why the rates have continued to plummet, they are the masters of squeezing every drop of blood out of a turnip. Independent Carrier Group

How many would like to form and Independent Carrier Group?

This group would represent us as Independent Carriers (Truckers) and give us the leverage that we as individuals currently lack.

Most of you that know me, understand what I am trying to do here, help all of us by establishing a baseline rate structure that we the Indpendents set up. It is been far too long since we have worked together for a common cause. I believe that now is the time for us independent carriers to come together, hand select the brokers and shippers that we want to work with. If only 1% of us got together we would have the leverage that would equal the Mega-Carrier and the Mega-Broker.

I am sure that most of you saw the news that XPO (a mega-broker) just bought Con-Way for $3B today. (09/10/15) We are currently in the Merger and Acquisistion stage of the trucking industry, when this starts happening, the new kids with their new toy will continue to erode our marketplace even more.

We must join together willingly or we will join together by force.
