Going to haul some bulk potatoes in a dry van. Hooked it up to day and the front measures 13,7 and the rear 13,5 unloaded. Truck has lp 24.5 and trailer lp22.5 both air ride. Will be going from eastern NC to Hanover PA mostly. The only thing I see to change other than tires and wheels would be the mounts for fifth wheel. A friend that used to haul tators said it would be fine, only thing is if we had to go eastern shore is on return trip to drop air bags for the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. What do think 13.7 ok?

East of the Mississippi is 13'6".. No matter if its a van flatbed what ever..if you are higher than that you are SOL...I dont know if they changed it but a tunnel going into pittsburg a 13.6 trailer ..the driver was complaining about the bounce and hitting the top of the tunnel.13.7 some scales measures height some don't..to drop an inch look at your 5th wheel height.west of the river except Arkansas is 14 ft..so if that's your lane then its good.

Hey...for hauling potatoes....if you're not worried about loads coming back to NC, try and find a flat with sides and a swing door. Most potato guys use those or maybe do a search for purpose built potato vans, as they are speced light just for hauling spuds. Also, if you're going to Hanover Foods, you can put a dump trailer on the lift and still run the spuds out the little gate...then bring lime back out of Bakers in York. Hope this helps.

That what im thinking. I got this van because the price was right, it had the vents and was hoping to get to haul some seed out off the seed plant. But the seed deal didnt work out. Then we had to paint the top of the trailer and know its to tall. Got a dump but using it right now to haul wheat out the field. Been looking at some kind of short sided open top trailer like a peerless or doresy chip van. I see that is what these guy from the eastern shore use to haul string beans. And thanks for the info on the lime maybe i can get some thing going.

You might want to check your ride height. Your leveling valve might just need an adjustment. Easy fix.

As you mentioned, changing the tires and wheels to low pro 22.5's should lower it enough.
