I am currently running a KW T680 52" midroof with a MX-13 motor rated at 500 hp and 3.36 rears and Eaton 13 speed manual. Approximately 50,000 miles in the last 10 months and so far so good. Fuel mileage is anywhere from 6.5 - 7.0 mpg depending on driver, terrain, and percentage of loaded miles, usually 80%-90% loaded. I may buy another truck before the end of the year and I have no problem buying another MX motor. The real test will come in the future when it gets close to 1 million miles.

One thing to consider in the purchase is the extended warranty to cover all the emmisions equipment, beyond the basic warranty. I was able to get the 500k/5 year full coverage warranty, which is good for peace of mind. If you lease, make sure to match up the lease with the warranty.

I just recently took delivery of 5 new kw's. 3 with Paccar mx-15's and 2 with Isx 15's. I have been extremely satisfied with the paccars over the red heads. Less downtime, easier maintenance and much more dealer support. I have them all in T-660s with 13sp manuals and 3:55 rears and 450 hp. We are seeing upwards of 8+ mpg with the paccars, a mile better then the isx's. The Dealer support is unmatched with them as well. None of the it needs to go hear and there crap like the rest. I was sceptical at first but in hindsite they have turned out to be a good buy

If you want o know about a certain motor then call the shop at the dealer and they will tell you what the majority of the problems are with the motors and what kind of cost will be associated with running that type of motor.

One of the reaccourring problems we have had with ours is the fan belt has too much tension on it which causes the bearings to fail on the A/C compressor. The MX engines water pump is belt driven (off the same belt) when it fails it causes a tow bill. Just like all the other new trucks various sensor problems. Fuel mileage pulling a hopper has averages of 7.0 to over 8mpg in perfect conditions.
