PTI MODIFICATIONS/ EGR DELETIONS

Jan 10, 2013 at 06:02 PM CST
Have any of you heard about a modification to engines with EGR where they eliminate the whole sytem? I hear that PTI from Salt Lake sells the parts. Can shops get in trouble with Cummins or Detroit Deisel for doing this? Just curious. Can you get in trouble with the EPA for doing this?
Thanks

If you get caught it is a big deal, but outside of California who is going to check? Pittsburg Performance does a deal that is expensive but leaves the basic parts in place, but not functional. Basically tkaes it back to a Signature series Cummins.

do you know if it could be done on a 2004 60 series or a 2006 mbe 4000.

I have heard that they can do it on the series 60. Have to ask the mechanecky. I know an old diesel shop owner who says, "Detroit really shot themselves in the foot with that series 60. It lasts so long and need so little work they could never make money selling parts." LOL. I had one that I sold at 800,000miles. maybe I should have kept it.

erich at ss60pd has a good program that limits egr but doesn't eliminate it ,program only will increase hp by about 75,and mileage by about .5 mpg..different program and you can elimenate egr alltogether and get rid of vgt turbo, but complete elimination is kind of hard to hide..good luck with your decesion.

There was this guy that was advertising here from Canada that had a computer that you replaced your engine computer with.. He claimed that it would make your engine ignore all of this new pollution garbage. That was a few months back.. You might go through the old postings.. You might be able to find him there. But if you do... Don't go to California.. With their thinking... They might execute you for polluting .

I guess I should have tried the website first.. Go to their website. There is an 800 # there if you have any questions and they are out of British Columbia. Good luck. This should be it..

ss60pd is serious series 60 performance diesel, check the web site, anywhere from mild to wild,we run what we sell, you can have a little or a lot.we do a little drag racing and street semi truck pulling..but always looking for better mpg..have had a lot of sucess with performance programing ,and performance parts,we only deal with 60 series engines..we started with this in 2001 long before anyone else.

I recently had pittsburgh power remove mine on a 60 series. They are a little pricy but it is worth every penny and they will treat you right. If you delete the egr and put a ported manifold on you will gain a full mile per gallon. Your motor will run cooler cleaner and more efficiantly by far. Modern engines are flat out sick!
