Looked like you could get some work for a truck on here until you start making phone calls. 42 excuses then, the customer is supposed to call any day now, we're just looking for rates to make a bid right now, the project hasn't started yet, etc, etc. If there really is a load, most of the rates I've been given are no good. The loads I have been given a fair one way rate on, go to places with no chance of getting reloaded - like Vermont. Everytime I see a load taken from this board going there, you see a truck posted there the next day. If you mention a two way rate or ask for a reload the conversation is over. Brokers and truckers need to quit bidding on what the truckers cost is, to many differences in that one. But the shippers cost on the other hand would remain constant given the scenario that I presented. Their is enough pie to go around, just right now the pie may be limited. I get RFP's each and every day, will not waste my time to fill a one of them out, if the broker or shipper does not know what their cost to run a truck is why would I let them know what my cost is. You can be blunt and people take it. Same with Jeff. I say anything controversial and it is game on. People are not understanding the concept that we as carriers have to ability to shape the people we work with. If we as a group stood up and said no TQL it would be over for them in short order, but there are to many guys that think that they can haul just one or two loads here or there and there is no harm. But they don't realize that they aren't the only ones doing the same thing. There are so many new Trucking companies with no broker authority trying to broker loads right now along with the mega brokers that I don't know how the smaller honest moral people can make it and they won't if we as a group don't get our head out of are butts and make a stand. This fight is far from over. I won't be here much longer. My goal is to have a small company in a specialty industry to hand to my son. I can sit back and let what I worked for go to crap or I can stand up with you and others and try to make a difference. If some don't like my words or methods to god damn bad. Don't like what I got to say reach in your wallet and come by me out---Easy. In the mean time people think about what you want, who do want to deal with, how do you want to be treated. If a broker has more than 2 pages to his broker deal, walk away, it probably isn't a good place. If the broker doesn't know wheat from corn, call a broker that does. Seems like we are having a lot of people fishing for rates. If you don't know how to price the work why are you a broker? At the sametime I would rather have people ask than muck up the market with stupid rates.
