THE IMFAMOUS BACKHAUL

It is defined in most dictionaries as "when a trucking company needs a load back to their terminal to get a driver home". Carriers and carrier brokers cringe when they hear this word used on a load due to the fact it is usually associated with a lower rate.

Should carriers not accept a load if it is only allowing them to pay for their fuel and costs or only provide very little profit? This would make the load they hauled before much more expensive due to more empty miles traveled.

What would be a better word to use on loads to get drivers home or to their next reload?
